Wow- Seventeen.com Period Planner

Doing some research for work and stumbled upon this period planner application at Seventeen.com.  The calendar is pretty funny- I'm hoping when I publish this you will be able to mouse over the dates to see what each of the things means.  The crab indicates crabbiness, but in a "mood" and not STD kind of way.  

I LOVE the huge red exclamation mark!  Will I get punched in an old episode of Batman or will I get my rag?  I guess I'll find out on October 20th.

5 Random Thoughts From AmeriCanadian

1) Holy shit balls! I just read that it's National Singles Week!  Is there a pageant that I should be entering?   I would like to be crowned the Princess of Single Week 2008 (see how it's Princess, cause if it was Queen then I would be married).  Who do I talk to about this?

2) On Biggest Loser the people cry tears of joy when they win a chance to call home.  Why is it that I feel like crying the one time I call home a week, but not tears of joy?  If I was ever on that show and won phone calls, I'd be like, "Uh, can I trade this in for something else?  Maybe a Big Mac?"  PSYCH!  That would be silly.

3) It was awesome to see Jamie Hector (aka Marlo from The Wire) on Heroes last night.  I am excited to see what's in store for his character.

4) What does it mean when Lipstick Jungle appeals to me more than the new Bev Hills 90210?  I'm confused and scared.  Someone hold me.

5) My cat loves strangers more than she loves me.

Social Experiment: Results Disappointing

No one cared.  Bummer.  I hope if I ever get engaged (again) people are more enthused, but I might have just experimented myself out of an excited response a la Peter and the wolf.

LifeStyle Crackdown Update: Week One Was a Warm Up Thanks to Last Minute NYC Trip

Here it is!  I found out on Monday morning that I was going to NYC from Wednesday to Friday which threw a wrench in my first week.  That said, I am proud of myself as I was successful where possible.  Next week should be great

1) Only drink 4 times TOTAL!

Had 2 beers and one cocktail on Thursday in NYC.  1 down, three to go. (1 reserved for this Thursday, 1 reserved for Dave and Richard's wedding)

2) Go to bed on weeknights at 11.

Was in NYC so this wasn't possible due to work commitments, but I did it on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and will do again tonight.

3) Got to one Weight Watchers meeting a week.

Check!  Went yesterday with my friend Martina.  

4) Go to the gym 5 times a week. (minus my doctor suggested recovery time post knee surgery on Oct 1st)

Went three times, unfortunately NYC interfered with this one.

5) Track my spending.

Check!  Using mint.com makes things a lot easier.

6) Not order food in ONCE. NOT ONCE!!!!

Check!

7) Bring my lunch to work 4 days a week.

NYC messed this one up.

8) Track all of my eating through Weight Watchers.

Check!  It wasn't always pretty but I tracked every morsel!

9) Eat out only once a week.

NYC messed this one up.

10) Update AmeriCanadian on my progress every weekend.

Check!

Mothers and Babies on Facebook: What's My Equivalent?

I've observed and don't react well to:

1) People who have their kids' pics as their own profile pics. Ok, I get it if it's you AND your kid.  That is cute and slightly less creepy.  Bust just your kid?  Does that mean that your kid has taken over your identity?

2) Women with pictures of their own huge pregnant belly as their profile pics.  Firstly, I probably have a bigger gut than you and am not pregnant.  BURN.  Secondly, why Facebook?  Are you parading your pregnancy?  Is this one of those things that only a Mother or future Mother can understand? 

I think the fact that I don't want to have kids right now is proven by my reaction to what I'm sure most people think are fabulous and wondrous instincts.  (showing off your babies and your pregnant guts).  

I've been thinking a lot about how horrible I am for reacting this way, and wondering what might be my Facebook profile picture equivalent.  So I decided to take a walk down my own Facebook profile photo lane to try and imagine what normal people might think of my priorities based on those pics.

1) Smoking, visibly drunk, purple aviator glasses, blinged out necklace that says "PARTY".  A normal person would look at this and assess that I have the priorities of a frat boy, and that I'm proud of it.  AMERICANADIAN SAYS: TRUE

2) Holding a 30-year-old trophy.  A normal person would look at this and believe that in the 70s I was a real winner.  That I'm the kind of person who not only wins, but rubs it in your face and reminds you of it whenever possible.  AMERICANADIAN SAYS: TRUE

3) Standing with Big Black Boykin.  A normal person might think that I'm the type of girl who likes  big, black celebrities.  AMERICANDIAN SAYS: TRUE

AmeriCanadian's Lifestyle Crackdown: What's At Stake?

Starting on September 15th, I will be starting a Lifestyle Crackdown.  There are many layers to this crackdown- the guidelines are outlined below.

Between Monday, September 15th and November 26th I will:

What gives?  Why are you all moving over there?  It's annoying.  I had a brunch in Jack London square today and dinner in Berkeley tonight.  If you're going to move to the suburbs don't make me come out there with you.

2) Notorious B.I.G. still being dead

I was listening to some Biggie Smalls' classics at the gym this morning.  I'm ready for him to stop pretending he's dead and make some more lyrical magic.

3) Grossing myself out

Sometimes I say shit so odd that I disturb myself.  For example, "Since they don't have salads here I am going to order two brownie sundaes and then drink 4 cups of coffee and smoke 5 cigarettes so I ppfffft pfffft it out."  (If any of those guys who think I'm the love of their lives read this it should scare them away and rid me of my clingers on)
